I recently sat down to interview Tosh Berman, son of the influential L.A. artist Wallace Berman, who was the first to show at Ferus Gallery, and Shirley Berman, fifties bohemian beauty, muse, and model. We discussed our new film project based on his memoir Tosh: Growing Up in Wallace Berman’s World from City Lights Press. Tosh, sometimes called the “Beat Boy” of the Beatnik-era Los Angeles and San Francisco art scenes, wrote a book that captured something unique, which I define as the only-child experience in the world of the true artist.

And here’s Wallace’s favorite joke;
Set-up: Did you hear about the iron horse?
Punchline: No shit.
I am looking forward to the documentary!
